Burlton Cottages and Spa experience: mostly familiar, with a few changes.

We are delighted that we can safely reopen on Saturday 4th July 2020.  We have been busy implementing measures to make our holiday cottages and Spa safe for our guests and colleagues.

Our ‘Covid-19 secure’ cleaning regime

The cleanliness of our properties and Spa has always been paramount to us. We have long used virucidal, commercial-grade disinfectants, but have now introduced additional products that are certified to kill Coronavirus. We will use these products throughout the cottages and Spa.  We will also be providing hand sanitiser products for your own use whilst out and about.

Our housekeepers have been trained and will be wearing PPE where appropriate. We have developed new Safe Working Practices and undertaken fresh Risk Assessments, following the latest advice from the Professional Association of Self Caterers (PASC).   We have also been awarded the VisitBritain Industry Standards for Covid ready opening.

The Burlton Cottage and Spa experience

We have always greeted guests on arrival, which we will continue to do so, whilst complying with social distancing. Guests are welcome to arrive anytime from 4pm on the arrival day, while departure is by 10am on the final day. Between 10am and 4pm, our housekeeping colleagues work to clean and disinfect the properties.  We will be asking guests to strictly adhere to departure and arrival times.  Keys will be in the back of the cottage doors and will have been disinfected.

Inside properties, we will be keeping to our usual high standards of presentation. All cutlery, crockery and glasses will be run through the dishwasher prior to your arrival.  We always provide a pint of milk in the fridge and a cake, we will continue to do so unless you would rather we didn’t.  We will also be providing bedding and towels, please let us know if you would rather bring your own.

All our cottages are equipped with well-loved books, along with board games, local information leaflets and soft furnishings. We’ll keep a limited number of these available and rotate and rest them between guests.

To help with our efforts to protect everyone, we’ll ask guests to strip their beds and remove all bin waste at the end of a stay, with easy arrangements in place.

If, during your stay, there is an exceptional reason why a member of staff or trusted contractor may need to visit your property (for example to rectify an issue in the building), we will inform guests with as much notice as possible and adhere to all government physical distancing rules.

***** UPDATE 01/07/2020 ***** Due to mis-interpretation of the law by our Industry Professionals, sadly the swimming pool and hot tub will be closed, until further notice .

Once the swimming pool and hot tub open, the access into it will change.  The side door will be used with hand sanitiser stations either side.  There will be a two-hour slot, twice a day for each cottage, so that the pool and hot tub is exclusive to you within that time.  Linked cottages may use the pool at the same time.  There is no reason at all that you cannot swap slots with other guests in a socially distanced way.  The pool side loungers will be designated to each cottage, so that you will have your own for the duration of your stay.  Sadly, we won’t be able to provide the sauna, steam room, changing rooms, spa toilet, gym and treatment room facilities until further notice.  There will be no other users of the swimming pool apart from the potentially 8 holiday cottage guests staying at one time and our immediate family.

There is more fun to be had here!

We recognise that getting out and about is a little trickier so you may enjoy our improved BBQ area which now includes a firebowl and Pizza Oven for guests to use.  Logs are complimentary and charcoal can be purchased during your stay.  On sunny days we will have a table tennis table on the patio outside the Spa, each cottage will have their own bats and balls.  The three-hole Pitch and Putt golf course is also available, we do have a limited number of clubs for guests to borrow.  There is also a football net, rounders set and French Boules that can be enjoyed on the grassed area, so hopefully something for everyone.

What’s open locally

This is changing daily as business’ announce their plans.  There are local pubs opening and still offering food delivery’s, farm shops and takeaways are open.  All the major supermarkets deliver here too.  I think planning will be essential as booking will be required for places to visit and for dining out.

My plea to you

Before you arrive please ensure that all members of your party have not got or showing any symptoms of Covid-19 at or just before the time of arrival.  We sincerely hope you have a happy and healthy holiday, however should a member of your party develop Covid-19 symptoms, the Government advice is to return to your primary residence, and self-isolate there for a period of 7 days (14 days for the group members).  Please do let us know if you do develop symptoms.

We will need you to provide, names, telephone numbers and email addresses of everyone in the party, so that we can pass this on to the NHS if it is required.  This information will not be used for any other purpose.  This must be provided at the point of arrival or before.

I would also ask that during your stay you obey the pool guidelines, vacate your slot in good time ready for the next session and maintain social distancing from guests and staff.

Remember the best way to stay safe is to regularly wash hands thoroughly.

It is wonderful to be able to get away again but let’s do it in a safe manner to minimise the risk of lockdown again.
